I have never liked the concept of days or months to celebrate a particular identity, but have never really been able to articulate why without sounding like I don't care about the people themselves, which couldn't be farther from the truth. I really appreciate the language you offer here around that idea.
"I don't love the concept of 'days', 'weeks' or 'months' dedicated to celebrating aspects of deliberate disadvantage because I believe it upholds harmful systems by limiting our time and space to diverge from the construct of normal while maintaining the status quo the rest of the time. I'm much more of a 'burn it all down and reimagine reality' kind of guy. "
That is sort of how I feel about a lot of things. As I look at all the things we’re trying to fix in the world, it occurs to me that we’re piling solutions on top of solutions for something that was broken before, that was solved before, so we’ve got hundreds of years of patchwork over an infrastructure that was broken to begin with. BURN IT DOWN and start from a place of fresh beauty. I was telling my wife that’s how I feel our work together is. I feel like a newborn, relearning all the things.
How is the neurodiversity stuff going on LinkedIn? I remember last year that you got heavily targeted by white autistic folks. I hope it's not the same this year.
Great to hear from you, Merlin! I have been posting consistently about my work with white Autistics to help them unlearn ableism and racism and those who are ready for that seem to be finding me more and more, and those who aren't seem quieter, so it's much better, thank you for asking 💜 I hope you are doing well 🙏🏽
Thanks you for articulating so clearly the role extractive capitalism plays❤️
You're welcome, Angela. Thank you for reading.

Thank you for this, Minessa. I too feel like I am in a constant cycle of rebirth, and I'm so moved to know our work is facilitating that for you too.
